What is JEE Main?
JEE Main (Joint Entrance Exam Main) is national level engineering entrance exam organized and conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency).
JEE Main exam will be conducted twice every year in month of January and April.
It is the first stage exam for appearing in second stage exam JEE Advance by clearing a cut-off.
Every year, over 12 Lakhs students across the country appear in it while 220000 students gets qualified for JEE Advance. It is regarded internationally as one of the most challenging engineering admission tests.
Through JEE Main score, you can get admission to Engineering and Architecture Courses at NITs (National Institute of Technology) and major private and government colleges across India.
IITs and ISM Dhanbad admissions will be done through JEE Advance score.
JEE Main-2019 will be only in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode.

What’s The Eligibility Criteria?
Eligibility criteria to appear in JEE Main Exam are based on following:
1) Date of Birth:
For General & OBC Category Candidates: Interested candidates whose DoB falls on or after October 1, 1995 can apply for JEE Main exam for upcoming year 2020.
For SC, ST, PwD Category Candidates: DoB should falls on or after October 1, 1990.
2) Educational Qualification:
Candidates who have cleared 12th or equivalent exam in year 2018, 2019.
Candidates who are going to appeared for 12th exam or equivalent exam in year 2020.
* Candidates who have appeared in 12th or equivalent exam in 2017 and failed but passed in year 2018 are not allowed to apply in JEE Main – 2020.
3) No. of Attempts:
Candidate can attempt JEE Main exam twice in year, first in January and second in April
month. Your best score in one of these attempts will be considered for qualifying in JEE Advance exam as well as admissions to colleges.
You can attempt for maximum 2 consecutive years.
Important Note
There shall be no weightage for the 12th class marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE Main ranks.
For the candidates to qualify for admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class exam, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class exam conducted by the respective boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class exam.
Student needs registered Aadhar Card Number to be eligible to apply for JEE Main.
How to Apply for JEE Main?
JEE Main application form is to be filled online on the official website, www.jee.nic.in, in the month of September for first phase of exam to be conducted in January and for second phase in April, forms to be filled in February month. You need to register by selecting username and password with some basic details.
Application Process:
Step 1 –
Register online with username and password by entering details like name, email id, mobile number etc.
Step 2 –
Fill the application form and upload documents. You will require following information and scanned copies of some documents.
SSC and HSC board exam details.
Personal details like your name, father and mother name, mobile numbers, address, email id, etc.
Scanned copies of your photograph, signature, left thumb print and other required documents in JPEG format.
Step 3 –
Give your choice of exam centers.
Step 4 –
Payment of Fees
You can do payment of exam fees online through credit card or debit card.You can also pay fees offline mode by downloading e-challan and depositing fees in HDFC, ICICI, Canara or Syndicate banks.

Admit Card:
Once the application process is successfully completed, you have to download admit card. Admit card will be made available by NTA on their website in month of December for JEE Main attempt in January and in month February for attempt of April month.
*It is mandatory to carry admit card to Exam hall.

What’s the Pattern of JEE Main Exam?
JEE Main exam has two papers where
Paper-1 is for engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) courses (Computer Based Only)
Paper-2 is for B. Arch. And B. Planning (Pen & Paper Based)
Paper – 1 :
JEE Main paper-1 will be objective type.
Duration of exam will be 3 hours but for the person with 40% or more disability, duration of exam will be 4 hour.
There will be +4 marks for each correctly answered question and negative marking of -1 marks for each wrong answer.
Its only Online computer based mode.
