What is MHT-CET?

The MHT-CET – Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is an annual entrance exam conducted by State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra. MHT-CET is conducted to provide admissions in Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Courses offered by various Colleges in Maharashtra. More than 360 colleges in Maharashtra participates in MHTCET. It is one of the most popular state level entrance exam.

What’s The Eligibility Criteria(Engineering)?

Eligibility criteria to appear in MHCET Exam are based on following:

1) Nationality

Candidates should be an Indian Nationals or OCI (Overseas Citizen of India).

2) Age Limit

Minimum – The minimum age limit is 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.

Maximum – The maximum age limit is 25 years for general candidates and 30 years for reserved categories

3) Qualification

Student must have passed/appeared HSC (12th) or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical or Vocational subjects, and obtained at least 50% marks for general candidates and 45% for PH/ SC/ST/OBC categories) in the above subjects taken together, for Maharashtra state candidate.

4) Type of Candidature

Maharashtra State Candidature

A Candidate can claim only one type of Maharashtra State Candidature Type i.e. from Type A to E.

Type Eligibility Criterion
Type-A 1. Candidates passing SSC and also HSC or Diploma in Engineering or Bachelor of Science Examination from a recognized institution in Maharashtra State.
2. Candidate who is either Domicile of Maharashtra and/or is born in Maharashtra.
Type-B A Candidate who does not fall in Type-A above, but who or whose Father or Mother is domiciled in the State of Maharashtra and possess Domicile Certificate.
Type-C A Candidate who does not fall in either Type-A or Type-B but whose Father or Mother is an employee of the Government of India or Government of India Undertaking and who has been posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra State before the last date for submission of Application Form for CAP
Type-D A Candidate who does not fall in any of the above Type-A, Type B and Type-C but whose Father or Mother is an employee or retired employee of the Government of Maharashtra or Government of Maharashtra Undertaking.
Type-E Candidates passing SSC and/or HSC Examination from a recognized institution located in a disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border Area and whose Mother tongue is Marathi.

All India Candidature: The Candidates having Indian Nationality are eligible under this Category.

Minority Candidature: The Candidate belonging to a particular Linguistic or Religious Minority Community from State
of Maharashtra and as notified by the Government are eligible under this Category.

Jammu & Kashmir Migrant Candidature:The children of citizens, who are displaced from Jammu and Kashmir to any part of India or from unsafe border area of Jammu and Kashmir to a relatively safer place in Jammu and Kashmir from 1990 onwards due to terrorist activities.The children of officers belonging to Indian Administrative Services (IAS) or Indian Police Services (IPS) or Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and children of staff belonging to military and paramilitary forces transferred to Jammu and Kashmir to combat terrorist activities and joined the post on or before the last date for submission of application for admission.The children of staff and officers of Jammu and Kashmir police engaged in combating terrorism are eligible under this category.Note: However as preference J&K Migrant candidates appeared for JEE(Main) 2019 over MHT-CET 2019 are advised to appear for JEE(Main) 2019.

Children of NRI / OCI / PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries, Foreign National– These types of Candidature Candidates are exempted from appearing for MHTCET 2019.

How to Apply for MHT-CET – 2019?

Application Form for MHT-CET 2019 will be filled through Online Mode (CBT-Computer Based Test) only. The information brochure for MHT-CET 2019 and the user manual for filling up the online application form is available on web site “mhtcet2019.mahaonline.gov.in”.

Application Process:

Step 1 –

Register with username and password.

Step 2 –

Fill up Application Form for MHT-CET 2019 by entering personal and academic details.

Step 3 –

Candidates have to upload their scanned photograph and signature. Uploaded files will be displayed on screen. To confirm the uploading of images, candidates are required to click on “SUBMIT” button.

Step 4 –

As the last step of online registration, candidates have to pay the application fee. Fee can be paid Online or Offline (through bank Challan).

Step 5 –

On successful payment of the application fee, a confirmation of the same will be displayed online. Candidate shall take the print out of its online application form for MHT-CET-2019.

What’s the MHT-CET Exam Pattern?

MHT-CET 2019 is a Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) test. Each question has 4 responses. Candidate should choose an appropriate response.

The questions will be based on Syllabus of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

Approximately 20% weightage will be given to Std. XI curriculum and 80% weightage will be given to Std. XII curriculum while setting the question paper.

There is NO Negative Marking.

Duration of the test for PCM is 180 minutes, PCB is 180 minutes and PCMB will be 270 minutes.

For PCM –This paper is having 2 Groups of Physics-Chemistry and Mathematics with total 180 mins. Duration, first 90 mins Physics and chemistry will be enabled and only after completion of first 90 minutes time Physics-Chemistry group will be auto submitted and Mathematics group will be enabled with 90 mins duration.

For PCMB –This paper is having 3 Groups of Physics-Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology with total 270 mins duration. First 90 mins Physics and chemistry will be enabled and only after completion of time response for Physics-Chemistry group will be auto submitted and Mathematics group will be enabled with 90 mins duration.
After completion of Mathematics group there is 15 min break for candidates. Biology group will be enabled immediately after break time with next 90 min duration.
