New Exam Pattern of JEE Main 2020 – Overall Questions Reduced & 5 Numerical Answer Questions added

National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced exam dates and other details for JEE Main 2020. The major change is observed in the format of exam questions and there are some changes in fee structure. As per revised pattern of exam, now Paper-I for B.E./B.Tech. admissions will be consist of 75 questions instead of 90 questions as earlier. So, the total question count in Paper-I is reduced by 15. Each subject, Physics, Chemistry and Maths, will have 25 questions among which 20 questions will be MCQs while 5 questions will be of which have Numerical Value as answer. Exam duration is same as 3 hrs but total marks will be 300 for Paper-I.

Also, there is one more change, unlike earlier, from this year there will two different papers for B. Arch (Paper-II)  and B. Planning (Paper-III). Moreover, there are changes in the both paper pattern and types of questions in B. Arch and B.Planning.

As per the eligibility criteria of B. Arch and B. Planning courses and according to the opinion of Subject Experts, a few changes in the pattern of question paper(s) and number of question(s) for B.E./B. Tech., B. Arch and B. Planning have been approved by JEE Apex Board (JAB)for the conduct  of  JEE (main) – 2020 Examination.

New Pattern for JEE (main) – 2020 : Paper 1 for B.E./B. Tech
Subject No. of Que. Type of Questions Marks
Physics 25 (20 + 5)* 20 objective type questions – Multiple Type Questions (MCQ) and 5 questions with answer as Numerical Value with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics 100
Chemistry 25 (20 + 5)* 100
Mathematics 25 (20 + 5)* 100
